Great Priory 2025
Last week over twenty Knights of the Provincial Priory of Northumberland made the three hour journey south to Freemason’s Hall in London for the Annual Meeting of Great Priory.
Four of our Knights were to be honoured by appointment to Great Priory rank in recognition for all their many services to their Preceptories, the Province and to the Order in general.
Eminent Knight Stephen Ranson, our Provincial Marshal, was honoured with Acting rank as the Grand Master’s Banner Bearer; Eminent Knight Geoffrey Morrison, after seven years as a dedicated member of the Grand Master’s Bodyguard, was appointed to the Acting rank of Great Aide-de-Camp; and Eminent Knights Eddie Anderson and Mike Gilberg were both appointed to the rank of Past Great Aide-de-Camp.
Prior to this, the Grand Master had appointed three distinguished Knights to the honour and dignity of Knight Commander of the United Orders – namely, Right Eminent Knight Dr Paul Calderwood, the Provincial Prior for Monmouth and South Wales; Right Eminent Knight Jonathan Spence, the Great First Constable and Pro Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of England; and Right Eminent Knight Dan Heath, the Great Vice-Chancellor and Grand Secretary for the several Orders administered from Mark Mason’s Hall.
Afterwards the Knights enjoyed a splendid banquet in the Grand Connaught Rooms adjacent to Grand Lodge before the return trek back to Newcastle in the evening.
