Knights Templar donate £80,000 to St John of Jerusalem Eye hospital Group

At the Annual meeting of Great Priory in London earlier this week, the Most Eminent and Supreme Grand Master, Paul Raymond Clement, GCT, presented a cheque for over

£80,000

to Eminent Knight Jamie Ingham Clark, a Trustee of the Eye Hospital and the newly invested Deputy Great Sword Bearer of Great Priory.

20 for 2020 Appeal

The money was raised by the very successful “20 for 2020 Appeal”, where Knights each donated £20 in return for a Swift lapel pin to show their commitment to the appeal. It was very heartening to see so many Knights present at the meeting proudly wearing their lapel pins to mark their contribution.

2022 is a milestone in the history of the Eye Hospital, being the 140th Anniversary of its founding, and the Centenary of its re-opening after the First World War, for which Great Priory, at the time, raised over a quarter of the necessary funds.

The Eye Hospital continues to treat patients, regardless of faith or financial constraint, for a wide range of potentially blinding conditions prevalent in the Middle East and, last year alone, treated over 134,000 outpatients and provided 6,500 major eye surgeries.
