Provincial Prior of Northumberland
RE Kt Kevin STANNARD
Kevin was initiated into Freemasonry in the Achilles University Lodge No. 4078 in 1990. After two consecutive years as Master, he became a founding member of the Provincial Support team in 1999. Promotion to Provincial Junior Grand Warden in 2002 was followed by several years as Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies and, in 2012, appointment as Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, which office he held for five years until his appointment as Assistant Provincial Grand Master in 2017.
In the Royal Arch, he was exalted into the Duke of Connaught Chapter No. 3892 in 1992. Subsequently acting as First Principal on no fewer than four occasions, he was promoted to the office of Provincial Third, and later Provincial Second Grand Principal in 2008 and 2009 respectively.
He was installed as a Knight of the Temple and Holy Sepulchre in Royal Kent Preceptory No. 20 in 1995. Immediately following his year as Preceptor in 2013, he was appointed as the Provincial Sub Prior in 2014 and was honoured to have been chosen by the ME & S Grand Master to succeed RE Kt Alan Hume, KCT, as the Provincial Prior of Northumberland following his retirement in 2018.
Kevin is a recently retired Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Newcastle Eye Centre. Happily married to his wife, Sharon, for 35 years, he has two children – Michael, a watersports instructor in Malta and Louise, a local veterinary surgeon.
Officers
The RE Provincial Prior, each year at the Annual Meeting in September, appoints and promotes worthy Knights to Provincial rank. Acting Officers hold their appointment for one year, until the next Annual Meeting, and then hold the equivalent Past Rank until such time as they have a promotion conferred upon them.
At the Annual Provincial Malta Meeting in March the following year, Provincial Officers have the equivalent Provincial Malta rank conferred upon them. Officers are designated by the particular design of badge worn on the left side of the mantle, and certain Officers may also have specific collar jewels in addition.

A New Recruit to the Bodyguard
On Saturday 15th September 2018, the newest recruit to the Provincial Prior’s Bodyguard was introduced by his sponsor, Knight K.T. Kat.
Knight Beauceant Bear appeared under arms for the first time at the Annual General Meeting of Provincial Priory.
The Right Eminent Provincial Prior is confident that he will, in due time, arrange a meeting with the Provincial Warden of Regalia to complete his Templar wardrobe, so he may in future turn out accoutered in such a way as to avoid the critical eye of the Provincial Deputy Marshal.
On Saturday 27th August 2016, KT Kat went through his Malta Degree in Newtongrange in Scotland and proudly wears his new regalia!
K.T. Kat is the mascot of the Provincial Prior’s Bodyguard and accompanies them on all their official duties.
