The Executive Committee of the Provincial Priory of Northumberland

Provincial Prior:

RE Kt Kevin STANNARD

Kevin was initiated into Freemasonry in the Achilles University Lodge No. 4078 in 1990. After two consecutive years as Master, he became a founding member of the Provincial Support team in 1999. Promotion to Provincial Junior Grand Warden in 2002 was followed by several years as Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies and, in 2012, appointment as Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, which office he held for five years until his appointment as Assistant Provincial Grand Master in 2017.

In the Royal Arch, he was exalted into the Duke of Connaught Chapter No. 3892 in 1992. Subsequently acting as First Principal on no fewer than four occasions, he was promoted to the office of Provincial Third, and later Provincial Second Grand Principal in 2008 and 2009 respectively.

He was installed as a Knight of the Temple and Holy Sepulchre in Royal Kent Preceptory No. 20 in 1995. Immediately following his year as Preceptor in 2013, he was appointed as the Provincial Sub Prior in 2014 and was honoured to have been chosen by the ME & S Grand Master to succeed RE Kt Alan Hume, KCT, as the Provincial Prior of Northumberland following his retirement in 2018.

Kevin is a recently retired Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Newcastle Eye Centre. Happily married to his wife, Sharon, for 35 years, he has two children – Michael, a watersports instructor in Malta and Louise, a local veterinary surgeon.

Provincial Sub Prior & Northumberland Prior of Malta:

E Kt William BEWICK

Initiated into Freemasonry in 1971, Bill is a member of the Lodge of Remembrance No. 6319. Mastership in 1982 was followed by appointment as Past Provincial Deputy Grand Registrar in 1990 and promotion to Past Provincial Junior Grand Warden in 1995.

After exaltation into Victory Chapter No. 3986 in 1978, he has been its First Principal on three occasions, leading to appointment and subsequent promotion in Provincial Grand Chapter to the rank of Past Provincial Grand Scribe Nehemiah.

He was installed as a Knight of the Temple and Holy Sepulchre in the St. Wilfred of Hexham Preceptory No. 461 in 1984. Acting as its Preceptor in 1996, he became a Provincial Officer and was subsequently promoted up to the rank of Provincial Great Registrar in 2005, before appointment as our Vice Chancellor in 2011, in which capacity he served with great distinction until he became Provincial Sub Prior in 2018. First appointment in Great Priory in 2010 has been followed by much deserved promotion to Past Deputy Great Sword Bearer in 2012 and subsequently to Past Great Herald in 2017.

Provincial Vice-Chancellor:

E Kt David ARMSTRONG

David is a member of Dudley Lodge No. 5425 following his initiation in 1978. Having served as its Master in 1989, and again in 2007, his first appointment as Acting Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies in 1998 has been followed by successive promotions to Provincial Deputy, and now Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies. In Grand Lodge he has held the rank of Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies since 2013.

Exalted into Cramlington Royal Arch Chapter No. 4196 in 1989, he served two consecutive years as First Principal in 1998 and 1999 before first appointment to Provincial Grand rank in 2003. Parallelling his role in Provincial Grand Lodge, he has served as Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies since 2011 – a role he has only recently relinquished in light of his increasing Templar provincial responsibilities.

He was installed a Knight in Brinkburn Preceptory No. 284 in 2005 and was its Preceptor in 2016. First Provincial appointment as Provincial Banner Bearer was followed in 2018 by promotion to the office of Vice-Chancellor.
