Eminent Knight William George, Prov.Her.

It is with great sadness that the Provincial Priory reports the passing of Eminent Knight William George.
Bro William George was initiated into Freemasonry in Cowpen Lodge No 4824 in January 1997 and was its Master on two occasions in 2005 and 2011.
He subsequently joined Plessey Lodge No 6242 in 2004 and Servavi Lodge No 6105 in 2010. He was Master of the former twice in 2009 and 2011 and of the latter once in 2012.
His dedication and service to the Craft, in having served three Lodges as Master on a total of five occasions, led to the Provincial Grand Lodge appointing him in 2014 to the Acting rank of Provincial Grand Superintendent of Works.
He was exalted in the Royal Arch in Croft Chapter No 3310 in 1998 but elected not to take senior office in the Chapter.
He became a Knight Templar when he was installed in St Ronan Preceptory No 590 in March 2003 and he acted as Preceptor in 2010.
For his service, he was appointed in Provincial Priory to the rank of Provincial Herald.
Active in other Orders under Mark Masons’ Hall, he was a member of Blagdon Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 547 and Master in 2007; a member and Commander, in 2013, of Blagdon Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners; and a member of the Hotspur Council No 129 in the Order of the Allied Masonic Degrees.
Sadly, his death at the age of only 70 years precluded what would undoubtedly have been high office in the progressive Orders, and his passing was mourned by all of his Brethren and Brother Knights throughout the Province.
