Eminent Knight Frank Tizzard, P.Gt.W of R.

Bro Frank Tizzard died peacefully in his sleep on 13th June 2013.
He had been Initiated into Freemasonry in Freedom Lodge No 5920 in November 1961 and Raised to the Third Degree in February 1962.
He became its Master in 1982, as well as later acting as its Charity Steward and Almoner between 1996 and 2009, when the Lodge closed.
He was a Founder member of the Lodge of Sportsmen No 9823 in 2007, as well as being a member of St Oswald Lodge No 6135 and Ionic Lodge No 6844 in the Province of Durham.
He was, transiently, a member of Harbour Lodge No 6392 in 1973 and joined the Northumbrian Masters Lodge in October 1990.
First appointment to Provincial Grand Rank came in 1990, when he was appointed as Past Provincial Junior Grand Deacon, followed in 1996 with promotion to Past Provincial Grand Registrar, and further promotion in 2008 to Past Provincial Junior Grand Warden.
In the Royal Arch, he was exalted into Gosforth Chapter No 1664 in December 1977; was its First Principal in 1991 and joined the Northumbrian First Principals Chapter in 1994.
First Provincial appointment came in 1996 as Past Provincial Assistant Grand Sojourner, and promotion in 2010 to Past Provincial Deputy Grand Registrar.
In the Knight Templar Order he was installed a Knight in Brandling Preceptory No 239 in February 1980, taking the Preceptor’s Chair in 1993. Promotion to Past Provincial First Constable in the Provincial Priory of Northumberland was soon followed by appointment in Great Priory to the rank of Past Great Warden of Regalia in 2008. He was, for several years, a member of the Bishop Antony Bek Preceptory No 559 in the Province of Durham.
Ill health had a deleterious effect in his latter years and his passing was a cause of great regret to the Provincial Priory and sadness to all the Brethren and Knights who knew him.
