Brother Knights, it is with deep regret that I have to report the very sad passing of E. Kt. Peter Scott.
Initiated into Saltscar Lodge No 5173 in the Province of Yorkshire, North & East Riding, in April 2006, Peter later moved to Holy Stone Lodge No 6171 in Northumberland Province for many years before finally settling in Bretwalda Lodge No 9007, remaining a subscribing member till his death.
He was a dedicated servant to his Northumbrian Lodges, serving as Master of Holy Stone twice, in 2013 and 2017, and Master of Bretwalda in 2017 also. After completing his year in the Chair of Bretwalda, he immediately took up office as the Treasurer of the Lodge, acting as such until the time of his death. In recognition of his various services, he was appointed in Provincial Grand Lodge in 2019 to the rank of Past Provincial Assistant Grand Standard Bearer.
He was exalted into the Royal Arch in September 2007 in Redcar Chapter No 1244, also in Yorkshire, North & East Riding, before moving to Vandaleur Chapter No 3586 in 2013.
In other Orders he was advanced in Backworth Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 1189 in 2014, as well as being elevated in Backworth Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners in 2015.
He was the Master of Backworth Mark Lodge for nearly three years, having been installed in November 2018 and re-installed in November 2019, four months before the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, remaining in the Chair through the period of national suspension of masonic activity until his death.
In our own Templar Order, he was installed a Knight in Northanhymbre Preceptory No 590 in September 2016. His talent as a mason was immediately apparent, and he rapidly advanced to the Chair of Preceptor, being installed in September 2019.
This, too, coincided with the period of pandemic and, sadly, he had few opportunities to officiate. It was during this time that he fell gravely ill with the recurring illness that was, ultimately, to cost him his life. He remained driven by the precepts we all try to follow as Templars and, only a few weeks before his death, he was organising charitable events and making donations of several thousands of pounds to his chosen charity, the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
Just a short while before he passed away, the Right Eminent Provincial Prior, accompanied by the Sub Prior, Eminent Knight Bill Bewick and the Preceptory Registrar, Eminent Knight Alan Sheret, visited Peter at his home, and was privileged to confer upon him an immediate appointment to Provincial rank as Past Provincial Second Constable.

In due time, when the situation allows us to meet once again as Knights Templar in our Provincial Priory Annual Meetings, we will pay tribute to all of our dear, departed Brother Knights, but until then, Peter and his family will be foremost in our thoughts and prayers.
