Eminent Knight Alan Green, P.Prov.Std.B(VB)

It is with sadness that the Provincial Priory reports the passing of E Kt Alan Green, of St Oswald Preceptory No 481.
Alan was initiated into Freemasonry in Addison Potter Lodge No 3807 on 20th September 1978 but twenty years later moved to Athelstan Lodge No 6469, becoming its Master in 2004 for two consecutive years and remaining a member until his death.
His first Provincial appointment was to Past Provincial Junior Grand Deacon in 1996, followed by promotion to Past Provincial Grand Registrar in 2006 and further promotion to Past Provincial Junior Grand Warden in 2018.
He was exalted into Addison Potter Royal Arch Chapter No 2571 on 6th March 1982. He was its First Principal on three occasions, in 1992, 2004 and 2016. He remained active in the Chapter and was, once again, Haggai at the time of his death.
He was appointed to Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies in 1997, and promoted twice, to Past Provincial Grand Registrar in 2002 and Past Provincial Grand Scribe Nehemiah in 2014.
He was installed a Knight in St Oswald Preceptory No 481 on 17th November 1986.
Twenty years later he joined the Provincial Prior’s Bodyguard, serving until he became Eminent Preceptor of St Oswald in 2011. He joined the Northumbria Guards Preceptory No 600 in 2007.
In 2012, he was appointed as Past Provincial Aide-de-Camp, later being promoted in 2017 to Provincial Standard Bearer (VB).
He will be sorely missed by all the Knights of his Preceptories, as well as those Brethren who knew him in other Orders.
